9/NJG-1 Ju 88G-6 Werk # 620582 lost during Bodenplatte
Does Anybody have more information about following crash:
Mayer, I. Uffz 9/NJG-1 Ju 88G-6 Werk # 620582 (lost 1/1/45) Night Fighter Operational Clasp His AC crashed west of Rozenburg on 1 January, 1945 during Operation Bodenplatte, pilot/crew disposition unknown. (DeSwart) What was the cause of the crash, who are- and what happened to rest of the crew? I assume the cause was most likely friendly FLAK but I have no confirmation. NJG fighters were used during Bodenplatte to guide JG fighters (in this case probably JG26) to their target (Brussels-Evere/Grimbergen airports). |
