Thanks for the link, zorglub.
There is a photo of DS707 about three quarters of the way down. This is the first time I have actually seen someone exiting and had not realised that there is a blackout curtain through which the guy looks to be stumbling. I had always thought that the Lancaster doorway was taller and narrower, rounded somewhat like modern airliner doors) and further away from the tailplane. It looks to be much harder to exit in a hurry with flying suit and parachute and to avoid hitting the tail.... so, is that a "normal" Lanc door or not? |
