My apologies, Bernard, your post squeezed in before my response to Cavalier.
I wasn't questioning you, but asking Cavalier if the spelling was accurate as Sowden could sound the same. I just wasn't as fast as you!! It looks as if you have found the right guy, no doubt over the years memory is less than perfect and the written record would seem to be what we can rely on more. A bientot!!
