Piper L4 depending from the 79th DIUS ?

Hi all,

I'm trying to identify to which one unit could have belonged the Piper L4 shot down in area haguenau (NW of Strasbourg, France) on november 25th 1944 about 12h45.

It seems such an "artillery spotter" could have been depending from one ground unit and not from the USAAF. (so there would be no MACR...)

In this area was only the 79th DIUS at this time.

Do someone have some elements about those US Army "Grasshopers" working for the artillerie in Alsace in late november 1944.

Any information would be very helpfull!

Mathias
