NJG 2 in Benghazi November 1941
Hi
I am looking for as much info as possible regarding the stay of 4.(?)/NJG2 in Benghazi in November/December(?) 1941. Original purpose, personnel, type of planes, sorties flown, successes, losses, duration, , any particular issues, etc. From my information (from ULTRA) it appears that the detachment was commanded by Ltn. Schulz and they lost a plane (R4+NK - Oberltn. Harms) damaged (belly-landing Catania?!) during a recce sortie on 23 Nov. 41, and one shot down (R4+NK - Lt. Voigt/Fw. Wolff) during a ground attack on the same day. I presume they were originally sent to provide night defence against Wellingtons, but then got roped into defending against CRUSADER. Many thanks in advance to anyone who can shed some more light! All the best Andreas
