There were plenty of P-51s shot down By G-series Me109's.
Read up on the training practices on Luftwaffe fighter pilot training. The emphasis was training bomber pilots. Fighter pilots learned mostly 'at the field'. The biggest enemy to Luftwaffe fighter pilots was the Luftwaffe. Just my .02 cents.
