Paul Gildner; NJG1 at Gilze-Rijen
Dear friends,
There is shortly a small article to be published about the (fatal) crash of Paul Gildner; on February 24, 1943 in Dongen, north of Gilze-Rijen airfield, in Take-Off. The magazine of the Gilze-Rijen Aviation Society. I have some questions about Gildner's days at Gilze-Rijen and his Bf.110 he flew during his flight that ended in Dongen. Paul Gildner is reported to have come to Gilze-Rijen from Leeuwarden mid 1942 to replace Knacke who was killed. 1. is this Reinhard Knacke? 2. if yes; strange since Reinhard Knacke was killed on February 3rd 1943, near Achterveld (NL) Some questions about his aircaft. 3. the Werksnummer of his Bf110 has been reported as 4846 and 4876 (the last one believed to be correct). Who can confirm? 4. What was the StammeKennzeichen of his Bf.110 ? All help very much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Best Regards, Benno |
