Spitfire crash landing at Malta 28/8/42

"At 1625hrs on Friday 28th August 1942 7 Spitfires from 249 Squadron and 9 from 229 Squadron were scrambled. Two of the latter collided and had to return to base but landed safely. Intercepting Macchi 202's, Sgt. Francis attacked and claimed to have hit one, but then started to experience problems with the hydromatic airscrew of his Spitfire BR488. He tried to get back to Ta' Qali but had to crash-land on the Naxxar to Mosta road. He was thrown clear of the plane but suffered multiple cuts and abrasions and was taken to hospital".

Do you have any additional information on this incident? Such as, pictures of the crash/aircraft/pilot etc.

Thanks for your help.
