JU 88 C or R with 2 diferent engines type on same plane

Recently I came across a picture of a JU 88 been attact by a mosquito on "Britain at war " magazine late edition .This plane , if you look carefuly, yuo can easely identify that it had the left engine a Jumo 211 and the right a BMW 801.Is it possible to have two diferente type of engine on same plane? It is a matter of engine suply shortage or its a knew type of sub series. Its a C-6 or R-2 sub type possible.
Eduardo.
