Seeking WNr and photos for Stab III./KG2 Do17Z that force-landed in Switzerland on 20.04.40
Hello,
In the EoE Loss DB we have this entry: 20 April 1940: Stabsstaffel III./KG2 Dornier Do17Z-3. Lost bearings during night sortie and landed low on fuel at Basel-Birsfelden in Switzerland. (Beo) Lt Horst von der Groeben, (Ff) Uffz Otto Hermann, (Bf) Uffz Waldemar Schweinoch, and (Bm) Uffz Walter Böke interned. Aircraft U5+BD 100% write-off. This aircraft was interned, made airworthy, and later flew in Swiss markings. But with the cessation of hostilities in France, it was returned to Germany by Oberlt Reinhard Hausin who flew from Altenrhein to Friedrichshafen on September 19, 1940. The crew was repatriated to Germany on June 28, 1940 at Stetten-Lörrach. Can anyone provide the W.Nr. of this a/c? I'm certain that the Swiss would have taken many photos of this a/c. Does anyone have any showing it down in Switzerland?
