Me 262, W.Nr. 110969, 'Luftwaffe im Focus', No. 23

Dear All,

I just received said magazine and have looked at the photo of Me 262, W.Nr. 110969, that appears on pages 6 and 7. The caption doesn't seem to jibe with what I see.

It is claimed that the photo is after the aircraft crash landed in the Feb.-Mar. 1945 time period. Yet, I see no signs of skid marks anywhere behind the aircraft. The left jet engine is missing and the wing is resting sedately on the grass. It gives me the impression that the engine - possibly both engines - had been removed and the aircraft gently lowered onto the grass. The airframe appears to be in remarkably good condition.

Anyone care to comment?

Regards,
Richard
