German Night-Fighters over Brittany - France
Hello/Bonjour, At some point of WWII, I wondered if there have been some German night-fighter units dedicated to the air defence of the harbours of Lorient and Brest in Brittany - France, both latter regularly attacked by night by bombers of the Bomber Command? Or if they relied only on the Flak units to ensure their defence? Several radar station along the coast were well equipped to do so, for example Anton L479 "Rentier" site at the Pte du Raz, in the Brest peninsula. I was thinking about what happened during the day for the heavies of the Eighth Air Force. A combination of Flak over the target and some fighters attacks on their way in and out. Thank you beforehand for your clarifications. Regards, Frederic |
