29 April 1944 - JGr. Süd
Gentlemen,
on 29 April 1944 elements of JGr. Süd were engaged in fighting off a 15th USAAF raid on Toulon Harbour. In the ensuing aerial combats the Gruppe reported three a/c missing, two shot down, two force landed due to battle damage and one force landing not due to enemy action. The only personal loss I have is that of Uffz. Peter Heinz from 1./JGr. Süd, who was wounded. Another loss that might have occurred in the course of this action concerned Uffz. Reinhard Wahl from JG 104, temporarily assigned to Jagdlehrerüberprüfungsstaffel, who was posted as missing after aerial combat in the Marseille region. Has anybody out there any more information referring to these losses , in particular to additional personal losses ? Regards Jochen Prien
