95 Sqn 14 Nov 41
A bit of a puzzle. At 1220 hrs on this day, Sunderland H/95 Sqn (presumably L5803 as after this date, H was N3024) was involved in a combat with a Fw 200 over the Bay of Biscay. Pilot was said to be 48547 Fg Off H R Bailey and one of the gunners, Sgt T McCrorry, killed. The ac apparently got to the UK damaged. Oddly, 95 Sqn was based in Freetown west Africa at this time and there is no mention in the F540. Furthermore, it is possible that Bailey got the DFC as a Bar was awarded to him in 1943. Can anyone confirm this?
