Typhoon Ursula - Sept 1945 - Formosa - 6 US a/c lost?
Also website https://noaahrd.wordpress.com/2015/0...yphoon-ursula/ says that 6 US aircraft were lost or went missing due to Typhoon Ursula around Formosa while transporting ex-POWs.
Three of these 6 a/c would have been B-24s 44-40666 and 44-42052 (both 494th BG) and 44-40491 (11th BG), all on 10 Sep 1945. Any leads welcome to the other (three) a/c that reportedly were lost due to this typhoon. Not sure if the loss of an RAF Dakota (117 Squadron) with POWs on 8 Sep 1945 can be attributed to same storm. Thanks for assistance. Regards, Leendert |
