109s attacking shipping 8 May 1942
On the morning of 8th May 1942, somewhere in the English Channel, six Bf 109s attacked a British trawler which returned fire. The first wave shot up the trawler and the second wave dropped small (?) bombs. The trawler was damaged and had casualties. All British accounts agree that one 109 was lost and another left smoking heavily. It is possible the trawler had another vessel in tow at the time.
Can anyone advise what Lw units were involved and any further details? Thanks in advance. Bruce
