Since copper was in short supply in Germany, a lot of metalurgic research was done to find an acceptable or better substitute to duralumin, to be used in structural parts. The result was a family of aluminium - zinc - magnesium alloys, plus stabilizers. These alloys were however only used toward the end of the war. Another alloy often used was the Elektron (aluminium-magnesium) for molded parts. Bonne journée ! J Schreiber |
