For what it's worth, John Foreman (Battle of Britain, the forgotten months) lists Stab/JG 26 Bf 109 E-4 WNr 5816 as belly-landed at Wissant. Aircraft 30% damaged. He gives no name.

PS: Also Prien et al in JFV teil 4/I on page 275 says the same thing, again no name.
It seems the important question now is, from where comes the certainty it was Oblt Walter Horten who was in the aircraft?
