Dear all,
I am pleased to announce the release, in about ten days time, of the volume (Band) 6 of the History of JG 2 "Richthofen". This is the German version.
This sixth volume in this series reports in detail on the history of " Richthofen " from January 1st 1944 until its final withdrawal from France at the end of August. This period was marked by many murderous aerial battles during the preparation and execution of the landing in Normandy. The losses of both the Allies and the German Luftwaffe were dramatic. The JG 2, for example, suffered the loss of two Kommodore and two Gruppenkommandeure within a few months, the famous Egon Mayer, Kurt Ubben, "Sepp" Wurmeller and Herbert Huppertz. The chapter on the fighting of JG 2 on the invasion front proves that the "Richthofen" was particularly active there from 6 June 1944.
