Re: Photo mission over Norway May 6 1944. 544 Sqn ORB?
Hello Kyrre
There appear to be two sorties that cover the area you refer to for 6 May 1944, so have listed both in case, but as you are working from prints you should be able to decide which is the one your after. 106W/264 Mosquito IX MM242, F/L D. Adcock and F/O D. South 106W/266 Mosquito IX MM246, F/L F.I. Dodd and F/S E. Hill The ORB (AIR 27/2028) has no listings for individual letter codes other than the a/c serials. Seems strange answering this query from Guernsey, which is as you will no doubt know housed Batterie Mirus, named after a fellow officer who died at the same time as Vara. Its a small world! Kind regards Pierre |
