Lt Lambert C. Root - DNB 24 Feb 1944 - England
Lt. Lambert C. Root (0-376854) died in an airplane crash in England on 24 Feb 1944. He's buried at the Cambridge American Cemetery.
Unit was US 44th FA Battalion, 4th Inf Div. According to a 1944 US newspaper he died in "aerial action", another says he died of injuries in an airplane crash. It appears (a) passenger was Lt Col Henry C. Walker III (0-021839), CO of 44th FA Bn, who also died in the crash. An L-4 comes to mind? Info welcome, thanks.
