Me 410 Intruders

Has anyone found documentary evidence to understand why II./KG 40 was converted from Do 217s to become V./KG 2 with Me 410s and to carry out fernnachtjagd missions over UK just under 2 years after I./NJG 2 was stopped doing such missions?
