Bob Day, the Canadian Burma Ace

Robert William Rouviere Day, a veteran of the Channel Front in 1943 and then later a flight commander with 81 and squadron commander of 67 squadron in SEAC.

He was posted to 416 squadron in February 1943, serving under Foss Boulton, then to 402 squadron in April serving under Lloyd Chadburn before after inititially being sent to 421 squadron his orders were changed and he joined George Keefer's 412 squadron.

He is represented as a flight commander when he went operational in February but I presume he was not in this post until he joined 412 squadron
at Kenley (24 June 1943?) or 81 squadron in India on 11 December 1943?

Does anyone know the date of his Flight Lieutenant appointment? I assume in 1942. He appears to have been commissioned on 13 July 1940 although I have not been able to identify the course he was on at 1 SFTS. It would indicate promotion to Flying Officer in 1941?
