Heuser - this sounds like a probable match. Were the JG76 losses in the 1150-1215 timeframes (Brit time) S of Kassel, North of Wetzlar? The 355th axis of engagement - any specific pilots identified?
It looks like the 355th attacked approx 2 staffels S of Kassel and chased the Germans in a South to SE (Fritzlar to Bad Hersfeld) and South to SW (Fritzlar to Marburg) from Kassel. I doubt that the 354FS got as far as Eschege in 15 minutes so the downed 109s would be west of the Fritlar/Bad Hersfeld line. Thanks so much - does it still seem like JG76 to you?
