Ju 88 A-4 Crashed in Spain 24-3-1944
A photo of the tail of a Ju 88 which crashed at Enviny , Spain was published in Flypast magazine a few years ago . It was stated that the aircraft w.n. ??0967 crashed on 24th March 1944 and an unknown airman was buried in the German military Cemetery at Cuacos de Yuste, Cacares.
According to a NVM three of the crew of Ju 88 (A4?) 4D+ON w.n 800967 of 5/KG 30 baled out near Dreux on 24th. March, following an engine fire on the outward flight to attack London. The Bf. Uffz. Heinz Maiwald is shown as missing, is the identity of the three who baled out known ? I did pass this on to an author in Germany some time ago and wondered if the grave of the unknown airman was now identified as Maiwald. Any more info. on this appreciated, Regards Brian Bines Last edited by Brian Bines; 26th March 2007 at 19:14. |
