'Archie' Rankin

A bit of a wild goose chase with this request, I've been asked a friend if I know of a loss of a Lancaster in 1944 that involved his wife's late Grandfather, one 'Archie' Rankin. He's not got any firm details of when the aircraft was lost but the fact that it happened in 1944 and the aircraft was downed over France. He also has nothing of Rankin's service details or what aircrew role he did. My friend has told me that he 'Evaded', however nobody with the name has come up on the Evaders list that I found on the net. If somebody with a copy of Bomber Command Losses for 44, could have a look for anybody called Rankin that was on a lost Lancaster in 1944. I would be grateful.
