War over SE Asia part deux
To continue what started as a good discussion but got somewhat fractured:
Dan's Ford's excellent book was, at least at one time, considered controversial here in the States. The 'Flying Tiger' vets in particular were up in arms about it because it challenged their claims (300 claimed vs ~100 actual. I remember the magazine 'Air Classics' went so far as to have R.T. Smith do their published review of the book. Not a pretty picture. Another set of books that do a very nice job covering the early months in SE Asia is the 2-volume set 'Bloody Shambles' by Shores/Izawa. |
