11 or 12 May 1940 2(F)./123 Do17
Hi!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to Ruy and all the (other) contributors to 12 O'Clock High ! Some months ago there was a request for information regarding a crash in Belgium during May 1940 (http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/showthread.php?t=7464) Is it possible to receive a confirmation that the plane w/nr.147 4U+EK crashed at Fosse-La-Ville (Belgium) or at Schinnen (The Netherlands) ? Which was the correct date 11 or 12 May 1940 ? Was it Hans Weicksel or Weiksel or Weichsel ? As he was wounded he was possibly liberated later in the war and returned to his unit. Could it be the same person as Hptm Hans Weicksel (born 16/04/1915) and died on 3/06/1942 and buried at Champigny-St.Andre (France, Block 17 Reihe 22, Grab 1181) ? Many thanks and best regards Luc
