1. Karpaten-Jäger-Regiment der Luftwaffe?

A Death Card of a Luftwaffe Ogefr., killed on 22 Sept. 1944 in Transylvania, states that he was a member of the 1. Karpaten-Jäger-Regiment der Luftwaffe.

Can anyone supply more info on this unit and it's activity in September 1944?
