21 february 1944 - Luftwaffe defenses
I am researching the crash of the B17's that went down over Holland on 21 February 1944. Particularly B17 42-30280 'Crazy Horse' of 482BG whcih came down in former lake Ijsselmeer. The crash site is only 500 meters from my current home.
Feldwebel Gerhard Marburg of Strumstaffel 1 (Fw190) was credited for shooting down the B17. He is also credited shooting down (HSS- Herausschuss) of another B17 West of Zwolle. Can anybody confirm that this second B17 was 42-30634 'Liberty Bell'. Can somebody provide met with more details of the German attacks on the formations of the 3rd Bomb Division that day? --Cees Steijger
