Fox, 1/I/1, Belgian Air Force, 23 or 24/05/1940
Who can tell me more about this crash, the exact type of plane, the fate of the third crew member (and the missing or not status of the two other crew):
Type: Fox Serial number: ?, O-41 Unit: 1/I/1 Mission: Patrol Kortrijk-Harelbeke (Courtrai-Harelbeke) Lost: 23 or 24/05/1940 Sgt (Pilot) Jacobus Degreef, pilot, MIA Cpt M. Keuleers, observer, KIA or MIA Van Groeten, ? Based at Stene. Crashed in North Sea off Belgium - other sources state Harelbeke as crash location. Sgt de Greef is remembered at Ereperk Evere, Brussels; grave 24. Date of death given: 23/05/1940. Cpt M. Keuleers is remembered at Ereperk Evere, Brussels; grave 25. Date of death given: 23/05/1940. One of my problems with this crash is that a number of graves at Erepark Evere are empty - as remembrance to missing aircrew. Regards, Bart Belgian Air Force Losses, May 1940 |
