I am researching about Ju 52 aircraft in Brazil by Syndicato Condor, Cruzeiro do Sul, VASP and VARIG airlines since 1934. I found some interesting facts and most of all the probable presence of one of rarest models of Ju 52, the D-AQAR (Ju52 3/mho J4055) named "Walter Höhndorf" one of the three originally equipped with Jumo 205 C-3 engines later upgraded to 206A (Pictured in Paris Airshow). According with Condor magazine this aircraft came to Brasil but never flew and his engines here disassembled and one used by Cruzeiro as stationary without positive results and scrapped. The other two where later donated to Airspase Museum (MUSAL). Does someone have other information about?
Another intriguing fact is about the J4025, JU52 3/mfe D-2588 named 'Rudolf Kleine' by Condor. According with the Condor Magazine this aircraft made demonstration flights in Brasil in 1934 later returning to Germany and crashed in 1941.
We have documents stating that some Ju 52 used as airliners werw military models. And Luftwaffe made a formal offer to Brazilian Military Aviation to sell some transport versions in 1936/37.
Any comments are welcome.
Cheers,
Joao
