Helmut Mertens - 20 February 1944

Hello all

On 20 February 1944, Hauptmann Helmut Mertens (54 victories, RK), Staffelkapitän of 7./JG 3, was shot down and badly wounded in aerial combat after claiming a B-24 four-engined bomber. He bailed out but never returned to combat duty. Would anyone have the usual loss list information for the fighter that he was flying that day?

Horrido!

Leo
