7./KG53 He111 FL in Luxembourg on 5.10.40
Hello,
The EOE WG is deep into Luftwaffe losses in Luxembourg during the early days of the WC, and have a vexing problem that I hope someone can help solve. We've got two photos of an He111 FL and burned out near Ell, Luxemboug, on May 10, 1940. We're almost certain that this is a 7./KG53 aircraft. However, one of our photos (the same as in the Gillet French Victories, Volume I) appears to show a code of ?N+N? Since the plane was pretty well burned back to mid-fuselage, it's possible that this is some of the original factory code showing under burned paint, but this doesn't appear to be the case. Is anyone else aware of a photo of this aircraft, hopefully showing clearly the fuselage codes? Regards, |
