Re: typhoons on starkey did they use the special markings ?

Apologies for the delay - just got back from a 7-week jaunt. Thanks for the kind comments and (Col) the free plug! Jerry, despite much searching no photos have turned up of Typhoons in Starkey markings (did Graham mean 'Spartan'? - easy to confuse the two). The shots which turned up after publication of Vol.4 were of the 'sharkmouth' Typhoon and these are published in this month's MAM. Vol 4 has a Mustang in Starkey markings - for which I am indebted to Colin F. However - I am sure a number of Typhoons squadrons did carry the Starkey markings and they are specifically mentioned in 609's ORB which says the outer third of the upper surfaces of the wing were marked with 'black and white stripes'. presumably the Starkey markings were not applied below the wing (as required) as they would have conflicted with the underwing Typhoon identity stripes.
