Container found on Austrian Mountain in 1946
Hello,
My friend sent me some pictures that show maps ( showing a small area) dated 1943. They wer from a container found on an Austrian mountainside in 1946. Also within it was English Jam (Marmalade I think). Would this container have been dropped to assist downed airmen or is it some kind of survival pack that they themselves would take with them when they jumped ? Or could it be a pack for some spy ? Photos below. Note the second one has a date of Jan 1944 on it. What do these maps tell us about the time and the purpose of the dropped container?
