Re: Need help with 3./ZG26 pilot first names during 1940

			Hi all,

For those who may be interested, I've confirmed that the Fw Adolf Iburg of 9./JG54, POW on 20 Oct 1940 is indeed the same guy that initially served with 3./ZG26. This was through his Erkennungsmarke (Identity Disc), which was that of 3./ZG26. His transfer date to 9./JG54, given by Christian as 3 Oct 1940, is likely correct, as he mentions in his interrogation report that he only recently arrived at 9./JG54. Apparently in the period from June to Oct 1940 Iburg served as an instructor at the Zerstörer school in Düsseldorf, which later moved to Gütersloh. Source is A.I.1.(k) Report 776/1940. My thanks to Peter Cornwell for his kind assistance. rgds andre |
