Good evening to all,Some time ago, Mr. Giorgio Pietrobon started a thread on a he 111 that belly landed at the end of the war on the Italian Dolomiti mountains (between Livinallongo del Col di Lana and S.Cassiano).<a href="http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/showthread.php?t=11218&highlight=He+111+belly+land edI" target="_blank">
http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/showth...+belly+landedI have reason to believe that the plane in question is one and the same with the one depicted in an image sold a few days ago on e-bay (thanks again edwest for the pointer!)<a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220508289506The" target="_blank">
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...20508289506The original image submitted by Mr. Pietrobon (who gave me the permission to send this post) shows a dismantled bomber and is firmly dated August, 1945. Locals he interviewed told him that the plane was heading in the direction of Austria when it came down. Unfortunately, no known date. The new image clearly shows a Stab machine (_ _+AA), too bad I can not make out the little letters before the balkenkreuz (is the lucky buyer around?). Since it was likely taken by an American, it should be dated after the end of the war. So, this bomber was almost completely dismantled between, say, May 1945 and August 1945.Any ideas?
