18 August 40 - Ju 87 attack Thorney Island

Hi
A Ju. 86P flight covered Thorney Island, Tangmere, Ford, Gosport on the 15 August 1940.
These flight photographs revealed the composition of Coastal and Fighter aircraft at the above mentioned aerodromes, this intel showed front-line fighter aircraft after which Thorney Island, Ford, Gosport were attack on 18 August by Sperrle’s Luftflotte 3.
Was this the main reason for the attack?
Kind Regards
Andy Bird
