German Bomber Crash ID Help

Hi Guys

I am trying to ID a German Bomber that I have some items from and a newspaper report. I have no date or name. Nothing other than its in the Stamford area Newspaper and mentions Northborough nearr Stamford and 6 miles north of Peterborough. Two bombers were brought down in the district at the same time. The pilot of one baling out and landing in the village, possibly Northborough. Taken prisoner by the a Jack Paine an ARP warden. It crashed in a field used as a fairground.

It says the pilot was about 30 years of age, and thats all. Been looking through books etc for days, any help appreciated. The newspaper doesn't give a thing away! other than it was either a late June or July edition but the top with the year has been cut off. These items were given to me.

Re: German Bomber Crash ID Help

Well,

If this location fits - I have two! It was Night-Fighter/Intruder (possibly downed by another German Night-Fighter/Intruder ?)

0345 Ju 88 C-4 "R4+BM" of I/NJG 2 (Lw.Befh.Mitte)
OPS (F) mis (100%) unk location, last contact 23:55 hrs CET [was apparently downed by another Luftwaffe night fighter intruder, crashed in flames, at 21:23 hrs at Gothic House Farm, Isle of Ely, French Drove, Gedney Hill, South-Lincolnshire, Britain, night of 17/18.04.1941] 17.04.1941 (F Obgefr. Wilhelm Beetz mis/rep killed in i/25.11.42, BM Gefr. Rudolf Kronika and BF Gefr. Johann Mittag missing <two crew found dead in the wreck after the war>; one POW)

Ref: GQM losses + Foreman: Air War 1941

and

National Achives, London: (Air Ministry War Room Report) Dived into soft clay at 21:23 hrs, Hurns Farm, Thorney, near Ely, 17.04.40, gives no markings or plates, entierely buried, one rubber fuel tank cover give date: 1.11.40.

Balss: At 22:23 hrs and ´wreck and crew recovered in October 1978´

Am I confusing / mixing locations? The Newspaper Cutting gives no date or concrete location. Plate is of Umformer U.8 (Transformer for Radio Navigational Equipment). Lieferer (Producer): C. Lorenz

Best regards
ed

Re: German Bomber Crash ID Help

I thought all the crew were killed in this crash thus cannot be the one referred to in the cutting?
