Re: List of the Legion condor pilots

Hello dears,
Can anyone confirm that Oberleutnant Günther Lützow was the first pilot to record an aerial victory with a Bf 109 ?

Re: List of the Legion condor pilots

The link provided shows some pilots as also receiving the DKiG during WW2 but I was wondering if anyone had as complete list as possible (or just a number) of how many Legion Condor pilots went on to win at least the DKiG in WW2.
I am asking as I have a tunic belonging to a flyer who earned the DKiG & Spanish Cross but the tunic is un-named and I wondered if it was possible to narrow down the list of possibilities. The rank on the tunic is Hauptmann so he would of been below that rank during his service in Spain (maybe even an NCO who was subsequently commissioned perhaps?).

May I just point out that what you "seem" to be after is only the fighter section of Condor Legion. There was also a bomber, maritime and AA section who also scored victories. The latest Schiffer book Sea Planes of the Legion Condor also lists the names of all those who served with AS./88 during the Spanish Civil War

A book about the Flak Unit has already been published by Schiffer...

Cheers
Stig

I'm after a list of pilots who served in the LC (and were awarded the Spanish Cross) and went on to win at least the DKiG (& possibly higher) as an officer, regardless of what they flew and with no relevance to aerial kills. Thanks for the pointer with the Sea Planes book, much appreciated.

From Patrick Loreau's "Legion Condor" it was both the first 2/J88 victory and the first ever obtained by a Me-109.

Nevertheless, there were no I-15 losses on that day neither from russian nor from respublican archives. Anyway this victory was: a youg spanish pilot (Juan Olmos?) was bounced by a Me 109 trio and forced to bail out from his damaged plane. Might be from a rare Letov S 231...

Regards
