Hi Chris,
Quick question. So you believe Muer may have been shot down by the 405 FS? According to AFHRA records, the 405 FS was credited with 3 kills that day. The records also show that 375th FS was credited with a total of five kills that day. They were also a P-51 outfit, but I don't know what missions they flew, where they flew, or their enemy opposition that day. Any possibility it could be them? 10 miles east of Pirmasens is quite a way from Echterdingen for the 405th claims. I used to be stationed at HQ USEUCOM in Stuttgart and I went to Echterdingen airfield quite a bit. Thanks, Gary
