Re: Ofw.Willi Glitz

I have the following five night fighter claims that could tie in with this incident, but would it be possible for you to get a copy of the combat report, which would give more precise info on the incident?

Cheers, Theo

Re: Ofw.Willi Glitz

Oeps, forgot to paste the five claims into my posting, sorry about this, here they come:

Ofw. Wilhelm Glitz: 10 Stab NJG2 Lancaster area Dreux-Illiers (BC-CC): 2.500 m. 23.56
Maj. Paul Semrau: 31 Stab II./NJG2 Lancaster 10-50 km N to NW Orléans (DD): 2.100 m 00.01
Lt. Erich Jung: 11 6./NJG2 Lancaster Orléans-Auxerres-Bourges: 3.100 m. 00.10/12
Maj. Paul Semrau: 32 Stab II./NJG2 Lancaster (W.) Orléans (ED): 2.300 m. 00.11
Hptm. Hubert Rauh: 21 Stab II./NJG4 Lancaster 10-50 km N to NW Orléans (DD): 2.400 m 00.17

By the way; do you perhaps have a photo of the crew and of their Lancaster?

Cheers, Theo

Re: Ofw.Willi Glitz

thanks for that. heres the photo of the crew and pb265.
from other forums I have been informed that the Erich Jung claim is inaccurate as he was not near Orleans at the time, but Im still open minded about that!
If you do a google search on Sgt JM WEIR Lancaster PB265 then all of my research so far will pop up(dont want to post other forum links )
Identifying this NF attacker is my main avenue of investigation at the moment.

Re: Ofw.Willi Glitz

The info on Erich Jung comes straight from his Log of Achievement (Leistungsbuch) so that should be ok!

Erich Jung's kill close to Orleans on 24/25th July was on Lancaster ND560 (DX-N) of 57 Squadron – my uncle Alan Moore was the flight engineer on this plane.
