Re: Robert (Robbie) Colin Campbell-Peat.
Greetings,
My uncle was a pilot with the RAAF, and based at RAF Manby, Lincolnshire, during 1944 and 1945. I am currently transferring the text of uncle's WW2 letters to electronic form. Robbie Campbell-Peat and uncle were room-mates at Manby from March 1944, and he is mentioned in many of the letters, and also wrote a few to my grand parents. He seems quite a character. Robbie was born in Scotland, but I believe was living in South Africa prior to WW2. There is also mention of his house in London being destroyed by a buzz bomb in August 1944. We have a 21st Birthday card for the uncle, signed by Robbie and his wife Lyn on 16 December 1944. Thats where my progress is at right now - uncle was stationed at Manby until mid 1945, so there may be more on Robbie. As expected, there is much detail on their off duty exploits, but not on operational things.
Regards,
