Re: Junkers Ju-88A-4 W.Nr. 10096 / Stammkennzeichen
Hi Peter
See below the photo and caption in the book on Mistel. The information on this Mistel is wrong? Anyway, something strange is this Mistel use a version of the late 'Elefantenrussel' while all other Mistel of the 2./KG 101 use the early version. ![]() ![]() "It is possible that this is was the aircraft which F/L Dinsdale and F/O Dunn shot down on 14 june 1944. A Mistel S1, Bf 109, W.Nr. 10130 (CD+LX)/Ju 88A-4 W.Nr. 10096 (5T+CK) White 5, is reported in German records as being shot down that night with Ofw. Heinz Lochmüller (Bf 109) wounded and Oblt. Albert Rheker (Ju 88) posted as missing. In this picture, the Ju 88 appears to carry the white tactical number '5' on its tail fin - similar to the Mistel shown on pages 95, 100 and opposite. The Ju 88 has been fitted with a warhead, whereas the Mistel quoted as lost was a training variant, an S1, but it should be remembered that removal of the Ju 88's cockpit and the instalation/de-instalation of a warhead could be executed relatively simply and quickly, suggesting that in this case the warhead was fitted temporarily, possibly for photographic purposes." |

Yes, both Mistels the V5 and V7 were lost on 14/15 June 1944 and belonged to Eins.St./KG 101. And the Mistels were not S1 but Mistel 2.

Re: Junkers Ju-88A-4 W.Nr. 10096 / Stammkennzeichen
I don’t have a Vbkz. of the V7 and I doubt whether this aircraft ever got an Vbkz. According to my documents these early Mistels got its Vbkz. at Kolberg like the V5. In contrast to the V5 the V7 was ferried directly from Nordhausen to St. Dizier.
