Re: Relic clock from a HE177 ? New Pictures
Snap!!!! I too have exactly the same type of clock, unfortunately i too could find no visible serial number or manufacturer. I posted a thread requesting information on 10th January 2010, with no luck. Searching the web, there is a similarity to Junghans clocks particularly the hour hand, it appears that the shape is a sort of trade mark. If anybody has the answer it would solve two queries at the same time!

Re: Relic clock from a HE177 ? New Pictures
Jon....you misunderstand!
Certainly not trying to score any points over my clock-spotting. Was merely confused/commenting that there were now two threads on the same topic. The Flugzeug-Handbuch for the He 177 shows what appears to be a clock mounting in the centre of the control yoke, but it is impossible to see what type or how it is mounted in the illustration. Re: Relic clock from a HE177 ? New Pictures
No worries Andy, I am just a tad touchy with this clock. Its, I have always thought from a HE177 crash in the UK. I have this along with some other bits including the pilot / crewmans Luger (all de activated and legal to own, if any police are reading this!)
I have now, sadly reason to doubt its from this crash though much of the evidence is in its favour, some is also against. Establishing that this clock is HE177 will go along way to making me feel better. If i cant now get conclusive proof, I will de lable the relics and split them up as my pet hate is relics being sold wrongly as it just screws up history and details for future historians. I have rapidly learned of a few bogus dealers and they are in my opinon total bastards. You however are one of the good guys and that parachute log book from the JU88 is looking at me right now, one of the best bits i have ever owned. Best Regards Andy Jon Eeles |
