Re: Help! Aircraft crashplace B-24 Lt. Panity, FW-190 Fw. Kurt Gren, 23.08.1944
Thanks alot for your help. Regarding further investigations it was B-24G 42-78171 of 2nd Lt. Glenn Stephens PANYITY who died during the crash. 3 other crewmembers of his 10 men crew also were KIA. MACR 7957 states: "attacked over IP, tail section came off at Ball Turret, noticed parachutes leave the ship, after which it went into a spin, losing both wings on the descent."
I wonder if there are any pictures of this B-24G available? |

Re: Help! Aircraft crashplace B-24 Lt. Panity, FW-190 Fw. Kurt Gren, 23.08.1944
Good evening FrankieS & lilsis !
Frankie, sorry, but I didn't note one B-24 this day. - 1100 Area Neuberg Austria, Karl Alpe, 2 km southwest of Mapwald ME 2015 It's possible, that this case could also be connected to ME 2016 lilsis, unfortunately, the location Markersdorf doesn't show up in the catalogue of the LGK reported B-24 losses for this day in particular. Could any of the listed locations be close to Markersdorf ? Best regards ! Horst Weber |

Glenn Stephens Panyity was my maternal uncle. He is buried in Grafton National Cemetery, West Virginia.
