Hi guys,
The whole Abschüße/Herausschüsse/endgültige Vernichtungen system is - I think so - well explained in the JG 300 book's introduction on pages vi to viii (volume 1 from Eagle Editions). Proof-readed by german former pilots.

Hi Jon,
Officially only one pilot should get credit for the destruction of the aircraft but if you look at the Luftwaffe claims listings HSS were often counted in the kill totals of pilots. The confusion comes about because of the Luftwaffe points system for determining decorations. Shooting a viermot out of formation (HSS) was worth more points than destroying one already out of formation (e.V.). Regards Andy Fletcher
