Loss of 487 Sqn Mosquito 22 Feb 45

Has anyone got any details on the loss of PZ395/E which resulted in the deaths of Wg Cdr Reg Baker DFC and Flt Lt Alex Fowler. Apparently it took off at from Rosieres at 1110 hrs to attack ground targets and crashed at 1315 hrs at Bevern; the crew are buried at Becklingen

Operation "Clarion" - communications NW Germany. Railway flak line Bremervörde - Rotenburg - crashed 2 km N of Bevern, 7 km E of Elmshorn, about 13.15 hrs. Crew first buried Bevern. Info from "For Your Tomorrow" Vol. 2 page 325 (Errol Martyn) and "2nd TAF" Vol. 3 pages 428/429 with picture (Shores & Thomas).
Regards,
Henk.

Good day Chris !

You may gain additional information by the LGK documents 13260/68 (Mosquito 1315 hrs 1 1/2 km N of Bevern) and 132361/66 (Mosquito 1315 hrs 2 1/2 km N of Bevern).

The "132361" may be an error, but it is printed like this originally in the catalogue of the LGK-reports for this particular day.

Best regards !

Horst Weber
