Re: V(Z)/LG1 and 27.9.40

Hi,

V.(Z)/LG1 claimed five kills during this combat, three of them were by BFs.
III./ZG76 claimed on this day in total 10 kills but I don`t know how many during the morning mission and how many later.

Regards

Robert

Re: V(Z)/LG1 and 27.9.40

Hi Robert, thanks for your comments. Since my initial post I've been doing a little more browsing and noted that John and Peter, in their book "Zerstorer" state that V(Z)/LG1 lost "7 of 13" aircraft, instead of the 7 of 10 stated by Eimannsberger. Perhaps this would account for the claims by Brendel and Weniger, as they don't show up on the mission list in Eimannsberger's work. You don't happen to know how many aircraft III/ZG76 supplied out of ZG76's total of 13? I think this number included 2 from Stab/ZG76. Thanks again. Dean.

Re: V(Z)/LG1 and 27.9.40

Dean,

Gefr Max Weniger was the regular Bf for Ltn. Ernst Schmidt 13(Z)/LG1, they were lost together on 23 Mar 1941 after the unit became I./NJG3.

I'm not sure about Gefr. Brendel but I have a note that says it was Brenkel? I didn't record where I got that from. If Brenkel, then it could be another one of these misinterpretations from the hand written microfilms on the Tony Woods files

Regards,

Craig...
